Top 10 Construction Companies in the UK (2026)

28 March 2026
Share

This is our 2026 list of the UK's biggest contractors and housebuilders, ranked by revenue in the results they published during 2026. We update it every year; earlier lists are linked at the end. For most, that's a financial year ending in 2025 or early 2026. Alongside each one we've added how quickly it pays its suppliers, from the payment practices reports large companies must file with the government every six months.

Revenue is the statutory figure in each company's annual report, results announcement or accounts filed at Companies House, for the group that owns the business. Joint venture revenue is left out. Financial years end at different times, so each figure shows its year end, and every figure links to its source. Payment figures are shown where we hold a report from the last 18 months; some groups report through a subsidiary we haven't matched yet.

What changed since 2025

Compared with our 2025 list, the same names make up both top 10s. Among contractors, M Group moved up to fourth and VINCI Construction UK to sixth, both partly through acquisitions (Telent and FM Conway). Among housebuilders, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon moved above Vistry, and Miller Homes rose from tenth to seventh.

Size isn't the same as a good payer

Big doesn't mean safe, or quick to pay. Before you sign, look at how a contractor pays and what its accounts show. Every company page on Construction Rating shows its payment record from the government reports, its Companies House record and any Gazette notices, explained on how our financial signals work. And our failures register shows how many well-known names have gone under.

Construction Rating lets subcontractors review the main contractors they work for. If you've worked for one, add your experience.
