This is our 2025 list: the UK's ten largest contractors and ten largest housebuilders, ranked by revenue in the results they published during 2025. For most, that's their 2024 financial year. For the latest figures, see our current top 10, which we update every year.
Updated October 2026: we rewrote this post. The first version included comments about what subcontractors thought of some of these companies, which Construction Rating had no reviews to support, and several figures were wrong or out of date. Both have been removed or corrected.
Revenue is the statutory figure in each company's annual report, results announcement or accounts filed at Companies House, for the group that owns the business. Joint venture revenue is left out. Financial years end at different times, so each figure shows its year end, and every figure links to its source.

Size isn't the same as being a good contractor to work for. Every company page on Construction Rating shows its payment record from the government's payment practices reports, its Companies House record and any Gazette notices. Our failures register lists the larger UK construction firms that have gone under, including ISG, which went into administration in September 2024 (why we built it).
Construction Rating lets subcontractors review the main contractors they work for. If you've worked for one, add your experience.
