The North Wales companies we list include housebuilder Anwyl in Deeside, civil engineering contractor Jones Bros in Ruthin and Wynne Construction in Bodelwyddan.

How they pay

Anwyl and Jones Bros file government payment reports, with averages of 27 to 30 days. Smaller firms don't have to report, so check their CR Signals for late filings, new charges from lenders and Gazette notices. Compare the bigger firms on the payment league table.

Public work

Most council building work goes through the North Wales Construction Partnership, led by Denbighshire County Council for the six North Wales councils. Its third framework, worth about £600m and running from 2024, appointed 18 contractors, 13 of them based in North Wales, for schools, public buildings and social housing. Welsh Government-funded construction contracts worth £2m or more must also use project bank accounts, so subcontractors are paid from a ring-fenced account (see South Wales).
